SOLARES: BIOCERAMICS DEVELOPMENT FOR THE SPORTS SECTOR

The project focused on the development of innovative clothing for improved human comfort and performance through the use of ceramic materials emitting infrared rays. These materials have a beneficial effect for the human body thanks to their ability to stimulate microcirculation and cell metabolism.

The main project phases were (1) the development of formulations for ceramic materials and finishing processes on traditional textile substrates (fine wool) and on synthetic substrates (for sports use); (2) physico-chemical character of treated fabrics and emissivity measurements (3) in-vivo testing to evaluate the effect on human physiology and sports performance.
